CRIME AND PUNISHMENT

¿What do we really mean when we talk about justice? ¿Is it just about handing down punishment, or about seeking real transformation?
Throughout history, laws have aimed to maintain social order but today, more and more people are questioning how and why we punish.
¿Is the goal to inflict pain or to help someone change? ¿Does everyone face justice equally, regardless of their background or social status?
Often, our first reaction to crime is anger and that’s natural. But if punishment is our only response, ¿What are we truly achieving in the long run? Maybe true justice isn’t about locking people away, but about understanding, guiding, and offering second chances.
A truly just society isn’t defined by how many people it punishes, but by its ability to heal and create new paths. Seeing those who make mistakes with humanity doesn’t excuse the harm but it opens the door to something deeper: the possibility of change.
